Partly-printed DS as president, signed “R. B. Hayes,” one page, 21 x 16, June 10, 1879. President Hayes appoints John T. Morgan “Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Territory of Idaho.” Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Hayes, and countersigned by Secretary of State William Evarts. In very good condition, with partial separations along intersecting storage folds, a couple extra small edge tears, some light creasing and wrinkling, and a vertical fold through a single letter of last name.
