American statesman (1801–1872) who served as secretary of state in the Lincoln administration and who was severely injured in an attack that was part of the assassination conspiracy. Seward,” on an off-white slip, most likely a franking signature clipped from an envelope as denoted by the ‘free’ postmark below his name. Matted with an engraved portrait, to an overall size of 11 x 14. In fine condition. RRAuction COA.
