Vintage glossy 7 x 7 photo of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and three other Yankee teammates posing together with a gentleman on the Yankees dugout steps, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Frank Vlina from Babe Ruth, Feb 7th 1933.” One can reasonably assume the unidentified man in street clothes is Frank Vlina. Double matted to an overall size of 15.75 x 15.75. In good condition, with five noticeable repaired tears, two affecting inscription, and one affecting just a single letter of signature, with other tears extending into right side of image, as well as a few other creases and surface marks. Photos of Ruth and Gehrig posing in the dugout (unsigned, let alone signed by either) are particularly rare and unusual, and the strength of Ruth’s signature more than outweighs the flaws.
