Recovering from polio, Roosevelt makes plans to re-engage in civic activities

ALS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, Company of Maryland letterhead, no date, but marked in the lower left, “Rec’d April 9, 1927.” Roosevelt writes from Warm Springs to Mr. Van Ness, while recuperating from an early bout with polio. In full: “Your letter has been forwarded to me down here, and as I fully expect to be home again by the middle of May, I shall be very glad to come to the exercises of the Rhinebeck on Decoration Day. Write me please what the hour is & where the exercise will be held.” Staple hole and paperclip impression to top edge, scattered mild toning, and ink notations to lower left, otherwise fine condition.
