Description

Burr as lawyer

Revolutionary War soldier, lawyer, senator, and vice president under Jefferson (1756–1836), probably best known for mortally wounding Alexander Hamilton in a duel on July 11, 1804. Five items: handwritten docket on a legal document, signed and dated “A. Burr, 19 Nov. 1823”; lengthy ADS related to a legal case involving the “Springfield [land] Patent” and mentioning General Bradstreet and several others, signed “A. Burr, Albany, 15 Mar. 1818”; two 1825 manuscript documents related to the same legal case, each signed “A. Burr”; and an unsigned and undated legal brief in Burr’s hand. Most of the documents appear to relate to the same or similar cases and parties. Accompanied by several unsigned, apparently related, documents and letters from others, several mentioning Burr. In very good to fine condition, with scattered creases, soiling, toning, staining, and handling wear. The signatures are generally dark, clear, and mostly unaffected. RRAuction COA.
