Renowned photographer George Prince captured a very distinguished-looking Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901) in this 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photograph. Picturing the accomplished statesman, perhaps as President of the United States, the image area is clear, and we note a few tiny surface marks for the sake of accuracy in description; very fine condition. The piece is signed “Benj. Harrison” along the bottom margin of its durable mount, and part of his flowing, black ink scripting touches upon the photographer’s “Geo. Prince—Wash. D.C.” mark. A splendid and thoughtfully well-handled relic, and an exemplar desirable for both its rare signature and its impressive visual properties. JSA/John Reznikoff Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
