Lawyer and signer of the U.S. Constitution from Delaware (1732–1808) who also served as an officer during the Revolutionary War, Governor of Delaware, and Governor of Pennsylvania. Manuscript DS, one page on vellum, 16.75 x 14.5, May 9, 1785. A grant for a parcel of land called “Stearsbury” issued to John Stear. The embossed paper seal remains mostly intact at lower right. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, light toning, soiling, and wrinkling, and slightly irregular adhesion to signature.
