Franking signature, “Censored, G. S. Patton, Jr., Lt. Gen.,” on an 8.75 x 3.75 mailing envelope addressed to Mrs. Suzanne Miner, his housekeeper, in Philadelphia (bearing Patton’s return address in another hand) and postmarked July 22, 1943. The notorious “slapping” incident which ultimately cost Patton command of the Seventh Army took place two weeks later, on August 3. In very good condition, with creasing and wrinkling (lightly touching signature), light soiling, and small edge tear near but not touching the dark signature. RRAuction COA.
