In part: “I’m writing this on the set while waiting for a take—to thank you for your latest letter. No, I shan’t be going home for Christmas, worse luck. We’ll be in production for about a month yet, and I shan’t be able to get away during that time. However I’m spending the day with the Haywards and the Fondas, here, not collectively, but individually, that is—and think it will be very fine and very mellow.
