Description

With an original drawing

British author and illustrator (1866–1943) whose Edwardian-era tales of naughty rabbits, “bad” mice, and other amusingly mischievous animals take a place among the most enduring and beloved works in the annals of children’s literature. Her first and best-known book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, has sold more than 40 million copies since it was first published in 1902. Greeting card with affixed color image of Peter Rabbit with a mailbag, 4 x 6, signed in ink on the interior, “[From] Wm. and Beatrix and Suzee [To] Mary and Hetty, Christmas 1935,” Potter adding a sketch of a fluffy dog’s head. In good condition, with soiling, staining, and a few chips and tears. Apart from some very faint spotting to the background, the signature and drawing themselves are generally unaffected. JSA/John Reznikoff Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
