Description

NEXT STOP WOODSTOCK: HENDRIX and GYPSY SUN AND RAINBOWS sign a rehearsal photo prior to their historic performance

Scarce color glossy 4.25 x 3.25 photo, signed and inscribed in ballpoint on the reverse (on the Polaroid mount), “Jimi Hendrix, Stay Groovy,” “Larry Lee, “Best wishes, Billy Cox,” “To Tom, Good luck, Gerardo Velez,” and “Juma” [Sultan]. According to the consignor, the photo depicts Hendrix and the Gypsy Sun and Rainbows rehearsing in Saugerties prior to their historic performance at Woodstock. The band would only perform live three times, breaking up on September 6, 1969. Slight lifting of photo from mount at edges, a very subtle hint of toning to signed side, and faint water spot just touching “JH”, otherwise fine, clean condition. JSA/Roger Epperson (REAL) Auction LOA and RRAuction COA.
