In part: “Notice of the filing of the answers to the amended bill and of your request that evidence be taken orally was duly received. The appointment of the clerk, Mr. A. H. Davis, as special master or commissioner to take the evidence would be satisfactory to us. The filing of our replication was delayed by the necessary absence of our Mr. B. at the West. Today we send to the clerk for filing our replication and a motion for the production of certain books and documents….” Intersecting folds, several pencil underlinings to text, and a hint of mild soiling, otherwise fine condition.
