Pioneering basketball player (1869–1962), a member of the original team assembled by the game’s developer, James Naismith; the entire team was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1959. ALS signed “Ray Kaighn,” one page, 6.5 x 10.25, personal letterhead, December 4, 1961. Letter to a collector. In part: “I have no available photo to send you at this time. There will probably be a picture recently taken to accompany an article (interview) to appear in Sports Illustrated…that will serve your purpose.” In fine condition, with punch holes to left edge, and a typed notation along top.
