Scarce vintage glossy 8 x 10 publicity photo from the 1939 film musical Rose of Washington Square, depicting Jolson in the blackface persona that made him famous, signed and inscribed in ink, “To Abe from ‘Abe’ Al Jolson, 2/25/39.” In very good condition, with a few scattered dings, surface marks, and small creases (a few touching face and hair), mostly visible from an angle. Signed images of Jolson in this most controversial of guises are extremely elusive. R&R COA.
