American entertainer (1878–1949), nicknamed “Bojangles,” who was one of the best-known dancer-actors of Hollywood’s Golden Age. He appeared often opposite Shirley Temple in the 1930s. ALS, one page, 8.5 x 6.5, personal letterhead, no date [envelope postmarked November 29, 1935]. Robinson writes to Walter Kolarik, a young fan, in New York City. In part: “Am so glad to know you like my dancing. Have just finished another picture with Shirley Temple, ‘Littlest Rebel.’ Know you will like our dances in it. Suppose you have by this time seen “In Old Kentucky’ with Will Rodgers [sic], I do lots of dancing in it…. Many thanks for your kind letter, will keep it for my scrap book of important letters….” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Robinson’s hand. Mailing fold to first name, and a touch of subtle handling wear, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
