American naval admiral (1882–1968) who commanded the Pacific Fleet at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Relieved of his command after the attack, Kimmel retired shortly thereafter and spent much effort defending his actions, arguing that crucial information that might have allowed for greater preparedness was never made available to him. Commemorative postal cover, 6.5 x 3.5, December 7,1941 [Pearl Harbor Day], with a cachet marking the 154th anniversary of Delaware’s admission into the Union, signed in ink “Husband E. Kimmel.” In fine condition. R&R COA.
