Description

Former slave (1818–1895) who lent his eloquent, powerful voice to the abolitionist movement. Partly printed DS, signed “Fredk. Douglass,” 3.5 x 8.5 (size of folded panel), January 2, 1886. A deed signed by Douglass in his capacity as Recorder of Deeds in Washington, D.C. Partial separations at folds, small marginal hole to signed panel (well away from signature) and mild toning and handling wear, no faults affecting the signature, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
