Franking a letter as Army engineer

Franking signature, “Paid, R. E. Lee, Lt. Engr.,” on a 5.25 x 3 (panel size) postal cover addressed in another hand to John Lloyd in Alexandria, Virginia, and bearing a “City of Washington, March 7” postmark and “FREE” ink stamp. A docket on one of the flaps dates the item to March 6, 1835. In very good condition, with light toning along two heavy vertical folds (one through signature), a few tiny pin holes, and scattered light wrinkling and mild soiling. A lesser-seen format for Lee! Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
