Sir George] Trevelyan the letter which I enclose, which please return to me when you are through with it; and I accordingly sent him the letter I had written to you, enclosing it in a letter of which I think you should have a copy! Soon I am going to get you to come down to spend a night with us, so that we can talk over matters….” Accompanied by the unsigned 12-page letter to which Roosevelt refers, a detailed remembrance of various foreign travels bearing corrections in another hand (evidently that of Trevelyan or Gray). Among other matters, the letter discusses “three experiences with the Kaiser and one with the Japanese” as president, the Algeciras Conference, and other diplomatic issues. In very good condition, with scattered soiling, paperclip stain, and diagonal crease to signed letter (through “R”) and soiling, paperclip stains, and handling wear to unsigned letter.
