Ink endorsement and signature as president, “Submitted to the Secretary of War, A. Lincoln, April 25, 1863,” on a cream 3.25 x 2.75 slip cut from a document. The lightly lined reverse bears a portion of a handwritten message by Lincoln, “[…] of a brigade … the beginning of … battles of the,” signed a second time, “A. Lincoln.” The sides are perpendicular to one another, and though the additional text would be affected, the two signatures could be cleanly separated if desired. Accompanied by an antique portrait engraving. Faint show-through of ink, otherwise fine, clean condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
