Glossy 10 x 8 photo of a suited Grissom and Norman Rockwell standing before a bank of electronic devices, signed and inscribed in ballpoint, “Warmest personal regard to Norman Rockwell.” Interestingly enough, a writing impression from another item placed on top is faintly visible at upper right: “With sincere admiration to Major Grissom, Sincerely, Norman Rockwell.” Accompanied by an ink signature, “Sincerely, Norman Rockwell,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card. Rockwell made a number of space-related illustrations in the 1960s, including a portrait of Grissom and John Young suiting up for the first manned Gemini mission. Scattered dings and surface marks, a few small, unobtrusive creases, and writing impressions (as noted) over Grissom’s face, otherwise fine, clean condition. A most unusual and notable association!
