He ran unsuccessfully for the presidency in 1864 and later served as Governor of New Jersey. ALS signed “Geo. S. McClellan,” one page, 4.75 x 7.5, June 27 [no year]. McClellan writes to Nahum C—. In part: “I was very glad to hear from you again after so long an interval…. It is possible that I may pass through Boston in August, but I do not expect to leave home before that time….” Matted and framed with a photo to an overall size of 17 x 13.
