In part: “Thank you for your recent letter as well as for the warning continued in its first sentence. Without it I would have certainly been puzzled, to say the least. Concerning the substance of your letter I can say nothing except that I am delighted in the attitude you are taking about the need for reversing the trends which presently seem to be bringing about a loss of respect for law and morality. I personally am not only continuing to express these sentiments publicly whenever circumstances permit, but am really hopeful that the Republican Party will promptly adopt a similar attitude and make the effort a principal feature of its platforms, programs and objectives.
