American activist and author (1880–1968), who, through her tireless efforts on behalf of the disabled, and the fictionalization of her early education in the classic play and film The Miracle Worker, became the most famous blind person in the world. Uncommon vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of the elderly Keller with her longtime secretary/companion, Polly Thomson, signed and inscribed in pencil “To Miss Jane Fairweather, whose exquisite flowers remembered will make sunshine in our hearts always, Helen Keller, August 11th, 1956,” and also signed in fountain pen “Polly Thomson.” In fine condition, with somewhat indistinct contrast of Keller’s writing against background (though each letter is dark, clearly drawn, and much more visible in person), tiny corner creases, and a hint of subtle silvering to dark portions, otherwise fine, clean condition. Seldom seen in this format! R&R COA.
