King of Prussia (born 1712) from 1740 until his death in 1786. His political prowess and enlightened attitudes toward religion, learning, and the humanities earned him the sobriquet “Frederick the Great.” LS in French, signed “Frederic,” one page, 7.25 x 9, September 27, 1768. Frederick writes from Potsdam to his nephew, Prince Frederic of Brunswick, sending thanks for a letter, mentioning the Comtesse de Skorzewska, and alluding to his nephew’s upcoming journey. In very good condition, with intersecting folds (away from signature; pinhole at intersection), light soiling with a few faint spots, and mild wrinkling and handling wear. R&R COA.
