Australian pilot and aircraft manufacturer (1889–1921) who tested and designed aircraft for the Sopwith Aviation Company before cofounding his own company with Sopwith in 1920. Hawker was killed in the crash of an experimental aircraft at the age of 32. Ink signature, “H. R. Hawker,” on an off-white 4.25 x 2.5 card which has been tipped to a larger card together with an affixed magazine photo.
