American statesman (1722–1803) and signer of the Declaration of Independence from Massachusetts who was one of the organizers of the Boston Tea Party and one of his state’s most ardent supporters of the patriotic cause. Ink signature, “Samuel Adams,” on 2.75 x 4.5 slip clipped from an official document and bearing an embossed seal. An ink notation at the bottom edge reads “Govr. of Massachusetts 1797.” In very good condition, with light soiling, staining (lightly covering Adams’ first name), and wrinkling.
