American military officer and Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut (1726–1797). Bold ink endorsement signed, “Teste Oliver Wolcott, Sheriff,” dated January 3, 1859, on the reverse of a summons issued to John North to appear at the County Court regarding damages owed by him. On the reverse, Wolcott writes, “Then I served the within writ by leaving an attached copy thereof…within names Defend’t usual place of abode.” Separations along both horizontal folds, and some mild toning, otherwise fine condition.
