Lejeune writes to his wife from aboard the U.S.S. Massachusetts. In part: “Here I am back again on the old ship…. I am indeed grieved to hear the sad news of Mrs. M—’s death. Poor thing she died just the same way as her mother did. I had a very pleasant visit in Centerville. I met whole rafts of people…. We are to leave on the 15th & everyone thinks we will go to New York & not to Newport…. Oh for the day when I can leave this ship for good and go off for a holiday with you & baby….” Intersecting folds, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
