Description

Italian composer (1858–1924) who earned a central place in the operatic pantheon with such repertoire staples as La bohème, Madama Butterfly, and Tosca. ALS in Italian, signed “G. Puccini,” one page both sides, 5 x 7.5, no date. Puccini writes to Tonino. In full (translated): “If Sargentini has arrived I beg you to have the Lancia put in an order for me, but the battery needs changing. Send to Tiberio’s on my behalf to say to him that if Sargentini is working there then I will send my chauffeur to help him. Then he (the chauffeur) will be able to come here in the Lancia. Forgive me if I am importunate but since it is late I am off to bed….” Matted with a portrait to an overall size of 15 x 11.75. Marginal mounting remnant and light wrinkling, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
