ALS signed “George Patton,” two adjoining pages both sides (the interior written as a single page), 5.25 x 6.75, West Point letterhead, no date [circa 1904–09]. Patton writes to his Aunt Nannie. In part: “It is fine that you are staying for if you have one fourth as fine a time as I had you must be enjoying yourself to the limit…. I hope you can come up here Sunday and if you don’t forget my book for I have a lot of new thoughts to put in it. By the way while you have it would you get me another like it as it will soon be filled—I am thinking lots. If you really wanted to spend money on me you can get me a couple of books one a dictionary of Battles or some such title. And Letters on Applied Tactics by Griepenkeird…. The course now is fine just what I have always liked and I hope to do a little in it. B’s birthday comes on the twelfth I have already got some thing for her so don’t you give her anything from me. Did the two K’s get my political letter and were they mad at being so treated I hope not. At that reception at which I helped receive I also sort of conducted the dances really I was quite great in a way. Things are very gay here Saturday I am going to see Kate Fowler which I expect will be a great bother but she asked me and I had to go….” Intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold to last name) and light wrinkling and handling wear, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
