Highly respected, multiple-Oscar-winning American film director (1894–1973) who helmed such classics as Stagecoach, The Grapes of Wrath, and The Searchers. Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of Ford in his Navy dress uniform, signed and inscribed in ballpoint “To Ruth & Dick, with affection, John Ford, Captain USNR.” During World War II Commander John Ford, USNR, served in the United States Navy and made documentaries for the Navy Department. He won two more Academy Awards during this time, one for the semi-documentary The Battle of Midway (1942), and a second for the propaganda film December 7 (1943). Ford was also present on Omaha Beach on D-Day. In fine condition, with a couple light edge creases through portion of inscription. R&R COA.
