Description

Scottish author (1850–1894) who takes a place among the most popular and durable literary figures of the nineteenth century. Though widely acclaimed for such poetry and story collections as New Arabian Nights (1882), A Child’s Garden of Verses (1885) and Songs of Travel (1896), Stevenson is best known for his classic novels of adventure and psychological drama, including the canonical Treasure Island (1883), The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886), and Kidnapped (1886). Bank check, 8 x 3, filled out and signed by Stevenson, payable to A. J. Hale for £2.12.6, August 10, 1887. Faint vertical folds (lightly touching signature), pen cancellation touching a few letters of middle and last names, and light bank stamp just touching “R,” otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
