Vintage ink signature, “G. Bernard Shaw,” on a slightly irregular 3 x .5 patterned slip clipped from a check. The signature is accompanied by a 1928 secretarial letter of transmittal and a card with Shaw’s printed response to collectors, which reads, in part: “Mr. Bernard Shaw does not regard unsportsmanlike requests by strangers to forge his own signature for their benefit as legitimate collecting. He signs enough genuine documents every day to give collectors ample material for the proper exercise of their peculiar industry. His secretary has instructions to return all albums and refuse all applications which ignore this distinction.” The items are matted and framed together with a photo to an overall size of 16.5 x 13.75.
