Description

Nicknamed ‘The Georgia Peach,’ he was an American baseball player considered to be the greatest player of the ‘Deadball Era’ (1900-1920), and perhaps of all time. When he retired he was the holder of 90 major league records and he was among the first players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. Personal check, 8 x 3, filled out and signed by Cobb, “Tyrus R. Cobb,” payable to the Olympic Club for $14.66, March 6, 1946. Matted and framed with two Perez-Steele cards, and a gold Hall of Fame plaque card, to an overall size of 19.25 x 15.25. Light show-through from stamp on reverse, stamp to top left, and cancellation holes to body, approaching opening stroke of signature, otherwise fine condition.
