Four-star general (1883–1946), aka “Vinegar Joe” and “Old Joe,” best known for his service in China. Relieved from command in 1944 as part of FDR’s geopolitical maneuvering in Asia, Stilwell was reassigned to command the American ground forces during the final battle for Okinawa in 1945. Vintage glossy photo of the smiling general trimmed in size to 7.5 x 9.75, signed in fountain pen “Joseph W. Stilwell, Maj.
