Description

LS, one page, 8 x 10, January 12, 1849. Buchanan, then secretary of state under Polk, writes to C. K. Gardner, postmaster at Washington. In full: “At the instance of Mr. Rafael Acevedo, Charge d’Affaires of Venezuela, I have to request that, until otherwise directed, you will cause to be sent to him at Philadelphia, care Dallett Brothers, any communications to his address which may reach your office.” Light intersecting mailing folds (vertical fold to last name, small edge tears repaired from reverse, and a few faint fingerprints (removal attempts very subtly visible), otherwise fine condition.
