In full, “I confidently expect to be away from home on the 6th day of May, and therefore feel that I ought to decline your courteous invitation to attend the annual dinner of the Editors of the Nassau Literary Magazine, on that day.” In fine condition, with tape repair to reverse of horizontal mailing fold, some scattered light creases, one through portion of text, and a mild shade of toning.
