American writer (1902–1967), one of the key figures of the Harlem Renaissance, best known for such works as Weary Blues and The Ways of White Folks. Two items: 1952 ALS signed “Langston,” written on a picture postcard of Piney Woods School to Prentiss Taylor, in full: “Greetings from Dixie. Wish I could’ve seen your show”; and an ALS on a 1965 flyer advertising Hughes’s play The Prodigal Son, including facsimiles of favorable newspaper reviews, signed “Langston,” inviting Taylor to see the production and mentioning that he has just returned from Paris. Folds and light handling wear to flyer, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
