A scalloped-top ship's papers for the brig Louisa Cecile of New York, issued to master or commander John Sheas. Countersigned by John Quincy Adams as Secretary of State. The embossed paper seal remains intact at lower left. In good to very good condition, with intersecting folds (vertical fold to “m” of first name), scattered soiling, and slightly irregular adhesion to Adams’s signature.
