Founder of the great New York–based retail and design operation (1812–1902) that became legendary for its spectacular jewelry and decorative wares in metal, glass, and other materials. Sarony cabinet photo, 4.25 x 6.5, signed in ink on the image, “Feby. 15th 1892, My eightieth birthday, C. L. Tiffany.” In good condition, with toning and slight fading to image, edge tear extending into background at upper left, and skinning and staining to mount. Most of the faults could easily be matted out for a pleasing presentation. R&R COA.
