Perhaps the greatest player in the history of the game, George Herman “Babe” Ruth (1895–1948) was among the five charter inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ruth distinguished himself as the first player to hit more than 30, 40, and 50 home runs in one season, and his record of 60 home runs in the 1927 season remained unbroken for some 34 years. Personal check, 8.5 x 3, filled out and signed by Ruth, “G. H. Ruth,” payable to Claire Ruth for $100.00, June 16, 1945. Endorsed on the reverse by Claire Ruth and also by Babe Ruth, “G. H. Ruth.” Encapsulated in a plastic PSA/DNA authentication holder. In very good condition, with expected stamps and cancellation holes, three vertical creases, one through second initial of signature, and some staining and bank stamp touching the first initial. A boldly penned example whose double signature lends it a scarcity and desirability well above the norm! Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
