American golfer (1892–1969) who won eleven professional majors, a record surpassed only by Jack Nicklaus. Over the course of the career, he won two U.S. Open titles, and, in 1922, became the first American to win the British Open, which he would win a total of four times. Ballpoint signature and inscription, “To Jack—With my best wishes, Golfingly, Walter Hagen,” on an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet. In fine condition, with light toning, folds, file holes (one near but not touching inscription), typed collector’s notation, and tape stains to sheet. Most of the faults are well away from the signature and can easily be trimmed or matted out. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
