From stagecoach to rail coach

Brother of American Express founder William C. Fargo (1829–1915) who himself later served as president of that company. Manuscript DS, four pages, 8.25 x 14, January 1, 1885. An agreement wherein the New Brunswick Railway Company agrees to lease to American Express “space in a baggage car connected with each and every passenger or mixed train run by said railroad … said space being of sufficient size as will accommodate the business of the Express Company, all freight to be loaded and unloaded by the Express Company….” Subtle, unobtrusive blotting to signature, otherwise fine, bright condition.
