Description

To her Antony and Cleopatra producer

ALS signed “Vivien,” three pages on two sheets, 5.5 x 7, personal letterhead, “Saturday” [no date; circa 1952]. Leigh writes to multiple-Tony-winning producer Gilbert Miller (1884–1970). In full: “Thank you for the very beautiful flowers and your wishes. We feel most happy and fortunate that the plays have gone so well. I remember meeting you at the St. James’s when we transferred ‘The Mask of Virtue’ in the month of May, 1935! Love to you both….” The letter likely dates to Leigh’s appearances in the Broadway productions Antony and Cleopatra and Caesar and Cleopatra, both produced by Gilbert, which ran from December 1951 to April 1952. Accompanied by an early typescript and handwritten descriptive note on “G. M.” letterhead. Mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition, with mild handling wear. PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
