Description

Harrison inquires of an ill nun

ALS signed “Benj. Harrison,” two pages, 4.5 x 8, personal letterhead, January 29, 1900. Letter to William Buckner. In part, “I have heard recently through Sister Anna that your Father feared that Sister Bettis…was in danger that she might loose her sight all together. Would you please find out and write me just what he does think…and whether the danger, if any, is immediate…Is there any better prospect of selling that North Bank property of mine? I am getting very weary of paying taxes on it. If you can devise any way of selling it next Spring I wish you would work it off.” Double matted and framed with a portrait of Benjamin and Caroline Harrison, Harrison’s private residence, and a small plaque, to an overall size of 22.5 x 18.5. In fine condition, with a touch of light toning and soiling to first page. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
