Printed typescript of an address delivered by MacArthur at MacArthur Park in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 23, 1952, two pages, 8 x 10.5, signed in ink at the top of the first page “Douglas MacArthur.” The text reads, in part: “Words can but inadequately portray the deep sentiment which stirs my heart as I revisit this scene of my birth…. The world has turned over many times … and those days of old have vanished, tone and tint; they have gone glimmering through the dreams of things that were…. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair…. As I look round at this sea of glowing, youthful faces, I repeat I am glad to be back and glad to feel so young again….” Allover toning and a few staple holes, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
