Description

British-American poet (1907–1973) best known for such classic verse as “September 1, 1939” and “The Age of Anxiety” and for his musical collaborations with composer Benjamin Britten. ALS, one page, 8.25 x 11.5, personal Kirchstetten letterhead, June 15, 1966. Auden writes to Stephen Williams in California. In part: “I cannot promise that I shall be able to make any helpful comment on your manuscript, but I would certainly be interested to read it, if you care to send me a typescript.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope addressed in Auden’s hand. Intersecting mailing folds (just touching first letter of signature), otherwise fine, clean condition. R&R COA.
