Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Jersey (1737–1791) who attained additional historical import as one of the designers of the original American flag and the first native-born American composer. DS, signed “Fra. Hopkinson,” one page, 3 x 3.5, March 20, 1771. Colonial currency from Pennsylvania in the amount of fifteen shillings, #2675, with Hall and Sellers imprint. Signed at the bottom by Hopkinson and two others. In good to very good condition, with dampstaining to last few letters of Hopkinson’s signature, remainder of signature light, but legible, scattered toning and soiling and overall mild wrinkling.
