What’s for dinner: Taylor sends presidential thanks for a “cut of beef” just months before his death in office

LS as president, signed “Z. Taylor,” one page, 7.25 x 7, March 18, 1850. Taylor writes to the Messrs. William Sloanaker and John W. Achmend. In full: “I have duly received your favor of the 13th inst. & the cut of beef which you have so kindly sent me. Be pleased to accept my thanks….” Matted and framed with a period engraving to an overall size of 13.25 x 21.75. Intersecting mailing folds (very faint vertical fold touching first letter of signature) and a few creases to left margin, otherwise fine condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
